Below are photos of some of the key steps in dissecting the drosophila larva to expose muscle #6 and its two innervating neurons.

Dissecting the larva

The larva is pinned anteriorly and posteriorly under the dissecting scope. 

This is the view under the dissecting scope.

A cut is made across the posterior end.

After the cut is made the preparation looks like this.

An incision is then made along the midline...

from the posterior...

all the way to the anterior end.

This is what it looks like anteriorly when the midline cut is completed.
 

Beginning at the posterior end, the forceps are used to gently pull away and remove the ___ as the scissors cuts the attaching tissues beneath.
